The major ruling alliance, Nepali Congress and CPN (UML), is trying to coax Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, a decisive force in the parliament, into approving the six ordinances brought by the government.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba called JSP-N Chairman Upendra Yadav to his residence in Budhanilkantha on Wednesday evening and held discussions with the latter.
The two leaders talked for about half an hour. However, what understanding was reached between Deuba and Yadav is not yet clear. Sources have claimed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has also called Yadav to Baluwatar for a meeting today.
Against this backdrop, Nepalkhabar talked to Chairman Yadav briefly.
There is a rumor circulating that you might be meeting with the Prime Minister this morning. Is that true?
Let's see, but the meeting is not certain. Even if there is no meeting now, there will be a meeting in the House of Representatives.
What is your take on the ordinance brought by the government?
We have already supported the government from the outside.
If you do not support the ordinance, the ordinance will be rejected. Will you stand in favor of the ordinance or against it?
Why didn't the ruling parties in the government think about this issue first? We are not important to them. With the NC and UML now aligned, our contribution to their plans seems less crucial.
Don't you support the ordinance?
Our meeting is being held at 11 am today to decide whether to support the ordinance. The meeting will take the decision. So far, we have not formed any opinion on it.
Are discussions also underway with your opposition alliance?
Why should we discuss it with the opposition alliance? We are not discussing it with them. We are not in any alliances at the moment.
Meanwhile, it is rumored that if you support the ordinance, the UML and NC will give the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province to your party.
All these are rumors. We are currently focused only on the ordinance in our discussions with NC and UML. We are not concerned with other matters.
