A 41-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances on Sunday morning near the Transport Management Office at Thanabharyang in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-11, Makwanpur. The deceased has been identified as Aashman Gopali, a resident of Thaha Municipality-10, Makwanpur.
According to the District Police Office, Makwanpur, authorities were alerted to the scene around 6:15 am. A police team led by Inspector Uma Shankar Prasad immediately rushed to the location. Given the presence of bloodstains surrounding the site, law enforcement is treating the death as highly suspicious. To aid the investigation, a sniffer dog from the Canine Unit of Bagmati Province Police Office was deployed to the scene around 8:30 am.
Family members revealed that Gopali, who worked as a farmer and vegetable trader, had traveled to Hetauda on Saturday to settle payments for produce brought from Thaha. When he failed to return home, concerns grew. Gopali is survived by his parents, wife, a 12-year-old daughter, and a 3-year-old son, according to Uttam Gopali, a ward member of Thaha-10.
Preliminary police investigations reveal that Gopali had booked a room at the nearby Tanduri Staff Hotel and Lodge on Saturday. Authorities discovered that he checked into the lodge alongside another man and a woman. While the room was registered under Gopali’s name, police are currently working to identify and trace the accompanying individuals.
Local residents reported hearing cries for help and commotion around 3:00 am, observing several individuals fleeing the area. Locals suspect that Gopali was attacked with a sharp weapon after attempting to escape from the back of the hotel toward the main road. However, police have not yet officially confirmed these details.
An intensive investigation is underway, with police examining CCTV footage from the hotel, collecting physical evidence, and analyzing technical data to identify potential suspects. Gopali's body has been sent to Hetauda Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
