A meeting of the House of Representatives.
The ordinances will not be presented for deliberations in today's meetings of both the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.
The meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of both houses is going to remove the list of ordinances to be presented for deliberations, stating that the government has asked for time to reach an agreement with Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal, which is the decisive party in the National Assembly.
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya, had urged Speaker Devraj Ghimire and National Assembly Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal not to present the ordinances for deliberations.
The government had presented six ordinances in both houses on January 31. More than 50 motions to reject the ordinances have been registered in the House of Representatives.
Law Minister Chaurasiya had urged the National Assembly BAC not to include the ordinance as an agenda for deliberations in the meetings today.
Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) have a majority to endorse the ordinances in the House of Representatives. However, three MPs of JSP, Nepal are decisive in the National Assembly for endorsing the ordinance.
Ruling NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli are intensifying meetings with JSP, Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav in a bid to coax him into standing in favor of the ordinance.
Meanwhile, JSP, Nepal has also formed a study task force led by leader Raj Kishore Yadav to study the ordinance. The task force has already submitted its report to Chairman Yadav this morning.
