Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal (JSP-N)) Chairman Upendra Yadav has stated that he is about positive about the ordinances brought by the government.
Talking to journalists following a parliament party meeting at Singha Durbar on Sunday, Chairman Yadav said that the JSP-N is positive about the ordinances.
He clarified that the ordinances were not held up by his party but the parliament itself removed them from the list of agendas of the parliament.
"We did not hold up the ordinances. The government itself removed them from the list of agendas. We are about positive about them," he said, "We will think of creatively for the country and the people."
He stated that his party will take a decision as soon as the government keeps as an agenda of the parliament meeting. When asked whether the JSP-N was bargaining for a lucrative government post, he maintained that his party is not willing to join the government.
"The JSP will take a decision as soon as the government tables them as agendas in the parliament meeting. We are not eying any government posts," he said, "The people and the country should benefit from these ordinances."
The government on January 31 presented six ordinances in the first meeting of this winter session.
Even though the Nepali Congress-CPN (UML) alliance has a majority in the House of Representatives, the JSP-N is decisive in the National Assembly for the endorsement of the ordinances. The JSP-N has three Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Upper House.
Speaker and Chairman have not presented these ordinances in the meetings for endorsement due to the lack of clear support from the JSP-N.
The six ordinances include the Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts related to Governance and Public Service Delivery, 2081, Ordinance to Amend Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility (First Amendment), 2081, Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts related to Economic and Commercial Atmosphere and Investment Promotion, 2081, Ordinance to Amend the Privatization Act, 2081, Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts related to Cooperatives, 2081, and Ordinance to Amend Some Nepal Acts related to Land Management, 2081.
