Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba is set to leave for Geneva on February 22 to participate in the High-Level Segment of the 58th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
Minister Rana will address the assembly on February 24, the opening day of the session, which is scheduled to run from February 24 to 26.
During her visit, the Foreign Minister is expected to engage in bilateral meetings with her counterparts from other nations, as well as hold discussions with heads of UN agencies, international organizations, and other dignitaries on the sidelines of the session. A key objective of Dr Rana’s visit is to garner support from UN member states for Nepal’s candidature to the UN Human Rights Council for the term 2027-2029. This effort underscores Nepal’s commitment to promoting and protecting human rights on the international stage.
Dr. Rana will lead a high-level Nepali delegation comprising senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, and the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the United Nations in Geneva.
The Foreign Minister is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on February 28, wrapping up her diplomatic mission.
