Minor boy killed as fire engulfs house in Jajarkot

A young boy has died in a fire in a hilly district of Jajarkot in Karnali Province.

According to the police, 12-year-old Amar Rokaya, son of Janak Rokaya, a resident of Kushe Rural Municipality-8, died in the fire that broke out in his house last night.

According to the District Police Office, Jajarkot, the fire broke out around midnight in a two-story house made of mud and stone.

The police have stated that the child, who was sleeping in a room, died in the fire that suddenly broke out from the kitchen on the upper floor of the house.

The house was completely destroyed by the fire. Along with the house, food grains, utensils, clothes, an eight-anna gold tilahari (necklace), and Rs 125,000 in cash inside the house were also burnt to ashes.

The fire was brought under full control at 4 am with the help of locals and the police. However, the livestock remained unhurt, the police said.
