Nepal has been eliminated from the league stage of the Women's International T20 cricket tournament underway in Uganda, with one match remaining. This comes as a result of consistently poor batting performances, ending Nepal's chances of advancing into the final.
In Thursday's match, Nepal's opening batter and captain, Indu Barma, scored 11 runs off 12 balls. Samjhana Khadka was dismissed for a duck, and Puja Mahato managed only 7 runs.
Nepal's inning further crumbled when Rubina Chhetry and Mamata Chaudhary were also dismissed for ducks.
Sana Praveen scored 6 runs, Kabita Joshi added 12, and Elisa Yadav was out for 9. Ishwari Bist and Rachana Chaudhary failed to score. Riya Sharma was the last wicket to fall, dismissed for 2 runs.
Uganda's Mutoni Irene and Immaculate Nakisuuyi each took three wickets.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Uganda scored 91 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Despite both Ugandan openers being dismissed for ducks, the subsequent batters performed brilliantly.
Esther Iloku scored 22 runs, and Rita Musamali contributed 38. Immaculate Nakisuuyi added 4 runs.
Stephani Nampiina remained unbeaten for 13 runs, and Malisa Ariokot scored 7 not out runs.
For Nepal, Riya Sharma took two wickets, while Puja Mahato, Ishwari Bist, and Rubina Chhetry each claimed one wicket.
