MP Prakash Jwala presenting his views in the meeting of the House of Representatives in New Baneshwar on Monday.
Member of Parliament (MP) of CPN (Unified Socialist), Prakash Jwala, has stated that making a legal provision to prohibit citizens from appearing in the Public Service Commission (PSC) examinations more than six times is wrong.
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Monday, MP Jwala said that preventing a citizen from even taking the examination is against the spirit of the Constitution.
He made such a comment at a time when the parliament is enacting legislations that individuals can only take the PSC examinations up to six times.
"If a legal provision is being enacted to prohibit citizens from taking the PSC exams more than six times, then that is wrong. Creating a syndicate that prevents any citizen from even taking the examination is against the spirit of the Constitution," he said, "This will push more Nepali nationals toward the Gulf countries and Malaysia.
Therefore, an individual should be allowed to take the PSC exams up to the age limit set by the existing regulations, he said, adding, "Let's debate how many times should a person be eligible for political appointment, contesting elections, and how many times one can become the President, Prime Minister, and Minister."
