The Aam Janata Party (AJP), led by Prabhu Sah, has demanded the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the formation of an interim government.
Concluding that the Oli-led government and the current Constitution have failed, the AJP has demanded the formation of an interim government to bail the country out of the present political quagmire.
A meeting of the AJP office-bearers held at the party's central office in Koteshwar, Kathmandu, concluded that Prime Minister Oli should immediately resign on moral grounds and pave the way for the formation of an interim government as the Prime Minister and his cabinet members have failed in their performance evaluations.
"Due to the current government, economic indicators have turned negative, foreign diplomatic relations have deteriorated, the Prime Minister and a majority of ministers have failed in their performance evaluation, and service delivery, good governance, and development works have become stagnant," reads the press note issued by the AJP, "Therefore, Prime Minister Oli must resign on moral grounds paving the way for the formation of an interim government."
Similarly, the meeting has appointed commanders to make the AJPA's pre-announced third people's movement successful to abolish the current broker party system. Former Minister and AJP Chairman Prabhu Sah has formed a third people's movement mobilization committee under the leadership of Constituent Assembly member Tilak Thapa Magar to end the broker and exploitative party system. Thapa is the senior vice president of AJP.
The committee includes senior vice president Upendra Sah, vice president Gyanendra Tamang, deputy general secretary Dhan Kumari Magar, secretaries Umesh Kushwaha, Devi Pandit, and Bagmati Pradesh Committee president Ramesh Thapaliya.
The meeting has also decided to form various committees including a management committee under the coordination to effectively accelerate the movement.
