The Embassy of Pakistan observed the 85th National Day of Pakistan with a flag-hoisting ceremony in Kathmandu on Sunday. Pakistani Ambassador to Nepal, Abrar H. Hashmi, hoisted the national flag during the ceremony, amidst recitation of messages from Pakistan’s President, Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister to mark the occasion.
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message, emphasized honoring the sacrifices of Pakistan’s founding fathers and upholding the principles of Unity, Faith, and Discipline. “We stand with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine in their fight for self-determination,” he stated, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace, sovereignty, and regional stability.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif highlighted the significance of March 23, recalling the Lahore Resolution of 1940 that led to the establishment of Pakistan. “Our armed forces and security personnel continue to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty with great valor,” he said, paying tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs and the resilience of the nation.
Similarly, Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar extended greetings to Pakistanis abroad, praising their contributions to the country’s global image. He also reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri struggle for self-determination.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Hashmi called for unity and hard work for Pakistan’s progress. “The key to Pakistan’s prosperity lies in our unity, hard work, and determination,” he said, while encouraging the community to strengthen Pakistan-Nepal relations."
The event concluded with a call to honor the nation’s heroes and work collectively for a brighter future of Pakistan.
