Three top leaders of major political parties -- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and the main opposition party CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda – are holding a meeting today.
Agni Kharel, the Prime Minister's Advisor on Human Rights and Transitional Justice, informed Nepalkhabar that the meeting between the three heavyweights will take place at Singha Durbar at 4 pm. "The top three leaders are scheduled to sit for discussions at 4 PM today," Kharel said.
The appointment of officials to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons is still pending. For this, a recommendation committee has to be formed. Kharel mentioned that the meeting of the top leaders of the three parties will reach a consensus on the recommendation committee.
Earlier, the recommendation committee led by former Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra stepped down from its role, stating that it could not finalize a list of potential officials unanimously.
Previously, the top three leaders had planned to meet on March 19. However, the meeting was postponed as Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda was outside Kathmandu for the party's Terai-Madhesh awareness campaign.
