President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the Federal Democratic Republic is the system achieved by the people at the cost of their blood and sacrifice. This system empowers the citizens to penalize those in power if they commit wrongs.
Inaugurating a newly constructed administrative building of Nechasalyan Rural Municipality of Solukhumbu on Monday, President Paudel said that the federal democratic republic guarantees that the sovereignty rests with the citizen.
"It is the duty of the political parties and the government and the citizens as a whole to make people realize that their future is bright through this republican system," said the President.
Stating that the freedom and the good governance are the demands of the entire citizens, Paudel asserted that the any form of despotism and anarchism against the Constitution will not be acceptable.
"Be it the 104-year despotic Rana regime or 30-year Panchayat rule (where the monarch was active), the citizens did not accept any form of despotic rule.
The current Federal Democratic Republic is a hard-won system, achieved by the people through their immense sacrifice, hardships and devotions.
Meanwhile, he recalled those days when he traveled on foot eastern hilly districts and interacted with the people when he was the Speaker.
He became emotional to pronounce 'Timburbote', a historical place, where he had taken shelter from rains during his visit to the eastern hilly districts. This is the very place where over a dozen people had sacrificed their lives for democracy during the Panchayat rule in 2041 BS.
