The government has removed Kulman Ghising from his position as the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).
A minister informed that the cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday evening decided to dismiss Ghising from his post.
Although the relevant ministry sought clarifications on five occasions, Ghising was not relieved of his duties. Subsequently, the cabinet itself sought clarification from him.
To justify Ghising's removal, his performance was also portrayed as weak. The performance evaluation committee, coordinated by Joint Secretary Jeebachh Mandal of the Ministry of Energy, decided to give him a zero score. However, Ghising himself had claimed that he deserved a score of 98 percent and had submitted a formal appeal to the ministry.
Kulman had been appointed as the Managing Director of the Authority for a second term on August 9, 2021. The term of the Managing Director is four years. This means his term would have ended in the next four months.
