The government has appointed Dr. Bindeshwar Lekhak as the Consul General for Hong Kong.
The cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday evening decided to appoint Lekhak, a joint secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the Consul General.
Lekhak, a joint secretary of the Government of Nepal, was transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs just six months ago from the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.
He has previously worked as the chief customs officer at the Krishnanagar Customs Office under the Department of Customs, as well as at the Ministry of Federal Affairs, the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission (NNRFC)
He holds a PhD in International Aid and Economic Development from Waseda University in Japan.
Originally from Bhimdatta Municipality in Kanchanpur, he joined the civil service 19 years ago as a section officer at the Ministry of Finance.
He also has a working experience at international and multilateral forums, including the World Bank, representing the government.
