The government has made public its decision on removal of Kulman Ghising from his position as the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and appointment of Hitendra Dev Shakya in his place.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, publicly announced the decision today, stating, "A decision has been made to remove Kulman Ghising as the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority. Hitendra Dev Shakya has been appointed in his place."
The decision to relieve Ghising of his duties was made during a cabinet meeting held on Monday evening. Government sources confirmed that the formalities regarding the new appointment have already been initiated.
Ghising had been serving as the head of the Authority for over seven years. According to analysts, recent policy disagreements and administrative functioning issues led to Kulman's removal.
The newly appointed Hitendra Dev Shakya is said to have extensive experience in the electricity sector. All eyes are now on whether NEA will achieve notable progress under his leadership.
