Nepali Congress General Secretary and MP Bishwa Prakash Sharma.
Nepali Congress General Secretary and Member of Parliament (MP) Bishwa Prakash Sharma has lashed out at the government for removing Kulman Ghising from his position as the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), four months before his tenure.
Speaking in the meeting of House of Representatives today, Sharma argued that Ghising should have been allowed to serve his remaining term. "The government made a mistake by removing him. Even we, from the ruling side’s perspective, are saying this," he stated.
He also questioned why Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli responded in Parliament regarding a sub judice matter. "Why did the opposition demand time to discuss this? Why did the Speaker allow it? Why did the Prime Minister answer questions in the House about an issue still under judicial consideration?" Sharma asked.
"But while saying this, ordinary citizens wonder—do they want the court’s verdict or the king’s rule? In a democracy, the public ultimately seeks the court’s decision as supreme," he remarked.
On a separate note, Sharma commented on the recent royalist rally clashes, expressing grief over the loss of lives and property but sarcastically noting that "Nirmal Niwas (the President’s residence) seems unaffected."
