The court has granted permission to keep 73 individuals, including senior vice-president of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Rabindra Mishra, and General Secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana, in extended custody.
SP Apil Raj Bohara, spokesperson of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, on Tuesday stated that the detention period was extended by 15 days for those arrested on charges of crimes against the state and by 20 days for those arrested on charges of criminal offenses.
A case has been filed against Mishra, Rana, and 20 other accused for crimes against the state. District Judge Bishnu Prasad Upadhyaya granted permission to keep them in custody for an additional 15 days, marking the third extension.
Similarly, the police have received approval to detain 53 individuals for an additional 20 days in connection with criminal offenses. They were involved in arson attacks and vandalisms targeting individuals and government property during a protest led by Durga Prasai on March 28 at Tinkune.
While the police continue their investigation by keeping the 73 individuals in custody, they are also searching for Prasai and others who are currently absconding.
