The health ministry of India has stepped up surveillance after new variants were detected in the country.

Growing worries about potential fatalities, viral mutations, and the effect on commerce and the economy are being expressed as the virus spreads throughout the 1.4 billion-person nation.

Furthermore, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya urged people to remain vigilant on Wednesday, saying the COVID-19 outbreak is still ongoing. In the midst of an influx in cases throughout the world, Mandaviya presided over a review conference with health authorities on the situation with COVID-19 and said that the government is ready to handle any circumstance.

As three cases of Omicron subvariants BF.7 were discovered in India on Tuesday of which two were found in Gujrat and one was found in Odisha detected by Gujrat Biotechnology Research Center.

Meanwhile, the Union health ministry advised all states and union territories to speed up genome sequencing of positive samples to keep watch of emerging variations.
