Nine Indian nationals have been arrested in possession of gold and silver worth over Rs 20 million from the Kathmandu Valley.
Acting on a tip-off that the gold and silver was being sold and bought at various places in the federal capital, a team of police from the District Police Office Range, Kathmandu and the Police Circle, Boudha arrested them from Kalimati on April 15.
The police team swung into action and raided refining and tunch centers, confiscating 1 kilograms and 76.518 grams of gold and 1 kilogram and 845.429 grams of silver, the police said.
The seized gold is priced at Rs 17 million 10 thousand and 60 while the silver is priced at Rs 3 million 9 thousand and 91. Besides, Rs 8 hundred and 27 thousand and 500 in cash and INRs 91 thousand and 700 in cash were recovered from their possession, according to the police.
The arrested are 30-year-old Nava Nath Baku Kasid, Sandip Popat Hajare, 20, Ansar Dilawar Sikalgar, 22, Suresh Rajesh Madane, 18, Arman Hanif Imandaya, 21, Manoj Subhash Sakat, 22, Amol Kumar Gosle, 38, Sunil Mitkari, 20, and Suraj Nandiwali, 20, from the Indian State of Maharashtra and currently staying in various places in the Kathmandu Valley.
The arrested, along with the seized gold and silver, have been sent to the Department of Revenue Investigation, Harihar Bhawan, Lalitpur, for further investigation.
