The decisive match between Nepal and Afghanistan in the ICC U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier has been delayed due to persistent rainfall.
The game was scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM at the Mulpani Cricket Ground, but continuous rain since morning has delayed the tournament. This crucial encounter will determine which team will secure a spot in the 2026 ICC U-19 World Cup, co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia. Only one team from the Asia Qualifier will advance into the global tournament.

Nepal’s U-19 team is just one match away from qualifying for their ninth World Cup appearance. Both Nepal and Afghanistan remain in contention, as all other teams have been eliminated from the race.
Last year, both teams competed in the U-19 World Cup in South Africa. Nepal had previously participated in the tournament consecutively from 2002 to 2008.
Now, playing on home ground, Nepal aims to secure back-to-back World Cup qualifications.
In their recent matches, Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 9 wickets in just 12.3 overs, while Afghanistan secured a dominant 180-run victory over the UAE. Earlier, Afghanistan had beaten Hong Kong, and Nepal had defeated Oman—both by 8 wickets within 13 overs.
Nepal had a tough fight against the UAE, whereas Afghanistan comfortably overcame Oman in their opening match.
