Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that there would have been a different result if ordinary people could cast vote instead of lawmakers in the party's parliamentary party (PP) election.

The youth lawmaker who lost the NC PP election to party President Sher Bahadur Deuba yesterday, in a video message, said the result of PP election was beyond his control.

"I tried to steer the country by taking over the driving seat. The effort to do so was within my control, I did the deed," he said, "But I didn't get the oppportunity as the result was not in my hands."

Stating that from known people to people whom he did not know so well had wished him victory in the PP election, he expressed gratitute towards the wellwishers.

He said he did not succeed despite efforts put in to steer the nation.
