Four people have died when a Bolero jeep heading to Pathivara, a famous religious destination in Nepal, came into contact with a live wire in Taplejung.
Police reported that the incident occurred when the Bolero jeep, with the registration number Me 1 Cha 3011, heading to Pathivara, came into contact with a live electric wire.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Bhim Dahal, the spokesperson of the Provincial Police Office in Biratnagar, the deceased include the Bolero jeep driver, Durga Bhattarai from Phungling Municipality-10, a 16-year-old girl Aadhya Acharya from Lalitpur Metropolitan City-10 and Sarita Paudel, 69 and Binod Paudel,70, both from Bhadra Municipality-15, Jhapa.
Police stated that the passengers were electrocuted when the Bolero jeep touched a live wire hanging from an electric pole. Two others were seriously injured in the incident. The injured are Sabina Acharya,45, and her son Abhimay Acharya of Lalitpur Metropolitan City-10. The deceased Aadhya is the daughter while Sarita and Binod are the parents of Sabina, it is learnt.
Locals reported that the Bolero jeep caught fire when it came into contact with the live wire at a place called Sewaro Chowk in the hilly district of Taplejung at around 4:50 AM today.
