A member of the Governor Recommendation Committee, Bijaya Nath Bhattarai, has tendered his resignation.

Former Governor Bhattarai put in paper saying that Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, the coordinator of the Committee, did not call even a single meeting.

Bhattarai informed Nepalkhabar that he resigned as the committee member.  The Recommendation Committee had been formed on March 31.

The Committee meeting has not taken place after the two ruling parties Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) could not strike a deal on the sharing of the governor quota.

The post of the governor was lying vacant after former Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari retired from his post on April 7.

The post should be filled one month before the post becomes vacant, according to the Nepal Rastra Bank Act.

Besides, Economic Expert Bishwa Paudel is a member of the Recommendation Committee.

Meanwhile, a writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court challenging the government's preparation to appoint the new governor. The writ petition is yet to be heard.
