Nepali Congress leader Shahanka Koirala has organized a tea-reception on Thursday morning.
In the reception held in his residence in Maharajgunj, leaders Kishna Prasad Sitaula, Bimalendra Nidhi, Prakash Man Singh, Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, Prakash Sharan Mahat, among others, were present.
Following the reception, Sitaula informed that Koirala organized a tea-reception on the occasion of the Democracy Day. During the tea-reception, political issues were not discussed.
"We were invited to a tea-reception on the occasion of the Democracy Day," he told Nepalkhabar, "Many people attended it. We had tea and exchanged greetings among each other and departed."
Sitaula further shared that no significant political issues were discussed during the event.
The 19th Democracy Day is being marked across the country today by organizing several programs, including offering tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their precious lives in democratic struggles.
The Democracy Day has been observed in commemoration of the historic event when the direct rule and autocratic regime of their King came to an end after the reinstatement of the dissolved parliament.
The autocratic regime was abolished on 24 April 2006 AD while the parliament that was dissolved on 22 May 2002 AD was reinstated.
On the day, former King Shah's proclamation noted, "The House of Representatives (HoR) has been reinstated in accordance with the public sentiment expressed through the present people's movement.
