Five individuals have been arrested for defrauding Bangladeshi nationals with promises that they would be sent abroad for foreign employments.
The arrested are Mohammad Mostaphijur Rahman, 50, of Chattogram Mobarak, Bangladesh, Mohammad Farhad Husein Chaudhary, 41, of Chandpur Hajiganj, Abu Yusuf Hanif, 46, of Chandpur Hajigaunj, currently staying at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, Kalimati.
Similarly, Kaji Shahtab Hussein (Miltan), 47, of Magura Sadar Thana, Beroil Gram, Azim Molik, 40, of Sadar Thapa, Kandapara, currently staying Gaushala, Kathmandu have been arrested.
According to the complaints lodged at the police station, they called them to Nepal and took USD 45,500 USD from 13 Bangladeshi individuals with USD 3,500 each with the lure of lucrative jobs in Australia, Italy, Spain, France, Serbia, Albania, among others.
Acting on a complaint lodged, a team of police deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, apprehended them from Shivasatashi Guest House in Sinamangal.
The police said they also recovered 19 copies of passports, 4 mobile sets, USD 9,850, Bangladeshi Taka 39,905 and NPR 25,000 during the raid.
The arrested have been sent to the District Police Range Office, Kathmandu for necessary investigation, SP Angur GC said.
