Nepali runner Santoshi Shrestha broke her previous record and created new history in Marathon held in London today.

She completed the race in 2 hours, 42 minutes, and 50 seconds, setting a new national record.

Earlier, Santoshi had set the national record at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Dhaka Marathon in 2024 by finishing the race in 2 hours, 46 minutes, and 22 seconds.

Santoshi’s success will serve as an inspiration for other Nepali female runners. "This is a significant step toward increasing women's participation in marathons and long-distance races and showcasing Nepal's potential on the global sports," the organizer said.

Prior to this, Nepali women have achieved some notable successes in marathons, but Santoshi’s historic record has opened new doors of possibilities for Nepal.

The world’s top female runners and marathoners participated in today's marathon's event, according to the organizer.
