The task-force formed to review the number of MBBS and BDS Seats and fee structure has prepared a report allowing the private medical colleges to increase the number of seats.
The 18th meeting of the Medical Education Commission on April 16 had formed the task-force to increase the number of seats and review fee structure and submit the report in the 19th meeting of the Commission.
The task-force is learnt to have prepared a report allowing the medical colleges to increase the number of seats up to 150 from the current 100 seats.
Following the permission to increase seats of MBBS and BDS, private medical colleges have agreed to provide living allowances to the doctors as per the decision taken by the 16th meeting of the Commission held on April 16.
Entrepreneurs of private medical colleges have stated that they would not provide living allowances unless they were allowed to increase seats.
The Commission will dwell on the report submitted by the task-force in its 19th meeting to be held today.
