The Nepal government has stepped up preparations for the Sagarmatha Dialogue, a high-profile international conference set for May 16-18 in Kathmandu.
The event will focus on glacier conservation, green energy, and climate justice, bringing together over 300 global leaders, policymakers, and climate experts.
According to the Foreign Ministry, distinguished personalities, including world leaders, policymakers, and environmental experts, have been invited to discuss "Climate Change, the Himalayas, and Human Future."
Joint Secretary at the Foreign Ministry, Lok Bahadur Paudel Chhetri, stated, "This dialogue will be a milestone in climate diplomacy, emphasizing the urgent need to protect the Himalayas and address climate injustice."
Twelve sessions will cover topics like melting glaciers, biodiversity loss, and climate-induced migration, with Nepal pushing for stronger global action.
Nepal, highly vulnerable to climate change, hopes the summit will bolster scientific data collection and secure international support for affected communities. "We need collective efforts to save our mountains and future," Chhetri added.
The event is expected to strengthen global cooperation in addressing climate crises.
