The Koshi Province Investment Summit 2025 has begun in Biratnagar showcasing 71 projects with the aim of attracting investments worth NPR 173.49 billion.

The two-day investment summit, organized by the Koshi Province Government, which is taking place today and tomorrow, includes participants from domestic and foreign investors. Discussions have been held with 45 foreign investors, out of which 20 are participating in the summit.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the investment summit amidst a ceremony today, which showcases projects across eight different sectors.

Significant projects have been developed across various sectors, including tourism, agriculture, industry, energy, infrastructure, IT services, and more.

None of the projects prepared for showcasing exceed NPR 32 billion. The largest investment project is the Udayapur Clinker Project, requiring NPR 32 billion.

Out of 54 projects, 18 require investment of over NPR 1 billion each. Ten proposed projects worth NPR 12.05 billion showcased in the summit have been approved.

Addressing the event, Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki stated that although preparations for the investment conference had been underway for several years, it could not be held earlier due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even after the 2079 elections, progress could not gain momentum.

He stated that the conference could only be organized after two years of rigorous effort. CM Karki explained that after identifying potential opportunities in the province, discussions were held on 71 projects across eight sectors—each costing over NPR 100 million—proposed by local levels, the provincial government, the federal government, and the private sector. The private sector showed enthusiasm, leading to this opportunity.

He added that NRNs (Non-Resident Nepalis), domestic, and foreign investors expressed interest, prompting further action. "The federal government amended laws, creating a favorable environment for investment," he said "The Koshi Province Government has also amended eight ordinances to attract investors."
