Lightning kills expecting mother, injures husband in Kanchanpur

An expecting mother has died after being struck by lightning in Kanchanpur.

Lalmati Rana, 24, of Shuklaphanta Municipality-12, Tilki, died after being struck by lightning. Her husband Ratan Singh Rana sustained critical injuries.

The couple were hit by the lightning strikes while they were picking watermelons on the bank of the Doda River, said Police Inspector of Area Police Office, Jhalari, Rajesh Basnet.

Lalmati died on the spot.

"Our team has reached the incident site. We are collecting details of the incident," Basnet told Nepalkhabar. The husband of the deceased has sustained critical injuries."
