The Armed Police Force (APF) of Nepal has conducted 312 patrols and set up 1,844 checkpoints in border areas within 48 hours.
The APF has beefed up security surveillance along the border areas in line with the decision of the National Security Council meeting yesterday following the India-Pakistan conflict.

From Tuesday morning to Thursday morning, the APF conducted 84 joint patrols and 228 single patrols in coordination with its Indian counterpart, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), during the 48-hour period.
The joint patrols with the Indian SSB were conducted as follows: 20 on May 6, 16 on May 7, and 48 on May 8. Similarly, as for single patrols, 89 were conducted May 6, 64 on May 7 and 75 on May 8.

During the same period, checkpoints were set up at 1,844 locations along the border area. According to the APF, 564 checkpoints were established on May 6, 640 on May 7, and remaining 640 were set up on May 8. The APF has stated that border patrols and inspections are being carried out continuously.
In these areas, over 10,000 armed police personnel have been mobilized under the command of various APF units: No. 1 Baraha Brigade Headquarters (Sunsari), No. 2 Chhinnamasta Brigade Headquarters (Mahottari), No. 3 Gadhimai Brigade Headquarters (Makwanpur), No. 4 Muktinath Brigade Headquarters (Kaski), No. 5 Vindhyavasini Brigade Headquarters (Rupandehi), and No. 7 Baidyanath Brigade Headquarters (Kailali).

To maintain law and order in the border region and prevent possible illegal activities, the APF has intensified monitoring of cross-border movements in coordination with the Nepal Police, the National Investigation Department, local representatives, and the general public, exchanging information and maintaining strict vigilance, said APF Spokesperson DSP Shailendra Thapa.
He added that efforts are also being made to ensure that traditional cross-border movements are not disrupted and necessary facilitation is being provided.
Similarly, the APF has also increased surveillance in key urban areas requiring heightened security measures.
