Anil Basnet, chairman of Shiv Sena, a pro-monarch Hindu organization, has been arrested.
District Police Range, Kathmandu, arrested Basnet from Sukedhara, Kathmandu on charges of involvement in the violent protests carried out by royalists at Tinkune, Kathmandu, informed Spokesperson SP Apil Raj Bohara.
Although the police had taken court permission for the arrest, Basnet had been evading arrest.
Among those for whom permission was taken, some are still at large, and they are also on the wanted list, SP Bohara said.
Two people lost their lives, while dozens sustained injuries in the Tinkune incident that involved vandalism and arson arracks on government and private property.
The police officials are preparing to file cases against those involved in the incident for crimes against the state, criminal offenses, and organized crime.
Although 53 people are doing time in custody, currently, the police have stated that even those released on general date will face legal action.
