Two women died after being electrocuted at a wedding event in Morang district. According to the District Police Office, the incident occurred while the victims were singing at the ceremony.

The tragedy occurred last night at Mirchadangi in Ratuwamai Municipality-3, when strong winds caused a bamboo pole supporting decorations to come into contact with a high-tension power line.

Police confirmed that the electric current traveled through the pole, electrocuting the victims.

The deceased have been identified as 71-year-old Suryadevi Gangai, wife of Satarulal Gangai, and 70-year-old Ramudevi Gangai, wife of Jatrulal Gangai, both residents of Mirchadangi. Another woman, 30-year-old Radhakumari Singh, was injured and is currently undergoing treatment at Jhurkiya City Hospital.

The wedding ceremony was for Niraj Kumar Singh, son of Mangal Kumar Singh of Ratuwamai-3. Locals reported that the electric current spread through the crowd gathered to celebrate when the bamboo pole touched the high-tension wire.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Rangeli Hospital for postmortem. Authorities have urged caution during outdoor events near power lines, especially during adverse weather conditions.
