Dr Posh Raj Pandey has been appointed as a member of the governor recommendation committee formed to recommend the next governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.
A cabinet meeting held on Wednesday evening appointed Economist Pandey to this post, a minister privy to the meeting told Nepalkhabar.
The post was lying vacant after Bishwo Pouel, who was earlier appointed as a member of the recommendation committee, resigned from the post.
He tendered his resignation amidst media reports that Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba put forward his name for the post of governor.
The central bank of Nepal has been headless after Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari retired.
