A delegation led by Mr Batu Khasikov, head of the Republic of Kalmykiya under the Russian Federation, has paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
In the meeting held at the Official Residence of the Prime Minister in Baluwatar, the two leaders discussed issues of bilateral relations and mutual interests between Nepal and Russia, Baluwatar sources said.
During the meeting, Mr Khasikov invited Prime Minister Oli to the Buddhist Summit to be held at Kalmykia in September. Similarly, the Prime Minister asked Khasikov to extend the message of invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin for an official visit to Nepal.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli also urged President Putin not to recruit Nepali youths in the Russian Army stating that there is no agreement between Nepal and Russia to this effect.
In response, Khasikov ensured that Russia will not recruit Nepali youths in its army in the days ahead.
Russian Ambassador to Nepal Aleksei Novikov, and high-ranking officials from the Foreign Ministry were present during the meeting.
