Nepali couple and minor boy killed in road accident in India

A Nepali couple have been killed in a road accident at Paliya village in Lucknow, India.

The deceased are identified as Tek Bahadur Saud, 58, and his wife Deuma Saud of Bannigadhi Jayagadh Rural Municipality-3, Achham, the District Police Office said.

Their two sons – the youngest son Bishnu is a street vender in Chhatisgarh -- are working in India, according to their relatives.

The couple, who reached Dhangadhi, Kailali on Thursday, booked a jeep for Lucknow. To their misfortune, the jeep in which they were traveling by was hit by another vehicle at Paliya village in Lucknow this afternoon, killing the couple on the spot. Eight to nine passengers were in the jeep.

"'Their sons were in India. They are street venders, selling momos. They often used to go to India to meet their sons," said Tek Bahadur Saud, ward chairman of Bannigadhi Jayagadh Rural Municipality-5, " Eight to nine passengers were said to be traveling in the jeep."

The other passengers – Amin Saud, his wife and 7-year-old son Anshu of Bannigadhi Jayagadh Rural Municipality-3, were also in the same jeep. Anshu died on the spot while Amin and his wife sustained injuries in the accident.

Sixty-year-old grandmother Adomati, who is currently at home, had bidden adieu to her son, daughter-in-law and grandson on Wednesday morning.
