Rubina Chhetry, the former captain and senior-most player in Nepal’s women’s cricket team, has described Nepal’s qualification for the Global Qualifier as the pinnacle of her career. With nearly two decades dedicated to Nepali cricket, Rubina played a crucial role alongside Captain Indu Barma in rescuing Nepal’s innings during the Asia Regional Qualifier in Thailand, securing their spot in the Global Qualifier.
Upon returning to Nepal on Wednesday night, Rubina shared her emotions with Nepalkhabar, calling the achievement "unforgettable." "Words can’t express this joy. There were times I thought of retiring, but my love for the game kept me going," she said. "After the match, we were in tears—it was our collective dream come true."
Rubina, the first and only Nepali woman cricketer to score a century, revealed that even her mother, who never watches her games, was overjoyed. "Seeing her smile made me feel like another dream was fulfilled," she added.

During the UAE match, Indu Barma was named Player of the Match but dedicated the trophy to Manisha Upadhyay, who then passed it to Rubina as a tribute. "I wanted to inspire younger players," Rubina explained.
Despite recent challenges in fielding and fitness, Rubina emphasized the need for improvement ahead of the Global Qualifier. While she considers this achievement a career highlight, she believes there’s more to accomplish.
"Being born as an athlete in Nepal is a blessing," Rubina said, thanking fans for their unwavering support even during her slumps.
