Two earthquakes have occurred in Baitadi, a hilly district of Sudurpashim, with a gap of 12 minutes.

According to Chintan Timalsina, the chief of the Earthquake Monitoring Center in Surkhet, two earthquakes—measuring 5.1 and 3.7 on the Richter scale—struck this morning with Khalanga, the district headquarters, as the epicenter. The first quake occurred at 1:48 AM, followed by another at 2:00 AM.

After the consecutive tremors, locals rushed out of their homes in the middle of the night.

Timalsina reported that the tremors were also felt in Darchula, Bajhang, and Dadeldhura.
