Kathmandu is all set to host the 22nd edition of the Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival (KIMFF) from May 28 to June 1.
The festival will take place at QFX Cinemas, Astrek Park, and GAA Hall in Thamel under the tagline "Fractured Voices, Reclaiming Narratives." Over 65 films from 30 countries will be screened, including acclaimed international and Nepali films that highlight contemporary Nepali narratives.
The event will open with the Nepal premier of "Between the Mountain and the Sky," a documentary by Jeremy Power Regimbal, that features the life of CNN Hero Maggie Doyne. KIMFF will also showcase Chinese films to mark the 70th anniversary of Nepal-China diplomatic relations.
In this edition, the jury panel consists of film and television directors Nabin Subba (Nepal), Martin Hesenohrl (Austria), Yingqi Chen (China), along with journalism and communication professor Xun Zhang and film programmer Jinna Lee (South Korea).
The jury will decide the Best Film in the international categories of feature fiction (4 shortlists), feature documentary (14 shortlists), short fiction (11 shortlists), and short documentary (13 shortlists). As for the Nepal Panorama section, the jury will decide on the best documentary (6 shortlists) and the best fiction (11 shortlists) and award prizes.
"Our goal is to entertain audiences while sparking dialogue on impactful social issues," said KIMFF Foundation Chair Ramyata Limbu.
Tickets are Rs150 for the general public and Rs100 for students, the organizer said.
