Main opposition CPN (Maoist Center) has said its attention has been drawn toward the killing of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) leaders including General Secretary Nambala Keshav Rao alias 'Basavaraju'.
Issuing a press release on Monday, Spokesperson of the Maoist Center, Agni Prasad Sapkota, urged the Indian government to seek solution to political insurgency through dialogues rather than security force.
"Our party urges the Indian government to resolve the existing political problems through dialogues rather than security force," reads the press note, "Our party calls for the adoption of new conflict management measures to address existing political issues through dialogues."
The Maoist Center has urged the Indian government and the Maoist insurgents to exercise maximum restraints and seek solution to the existing problems through peaceful means.
"Our party is serious about the long-term impact such incidents would cause in the days ahead," reads the press note, "The Maoist Center urges both the sides to exercise restraints and resolve the political issue through dialogues."
As many as 27 Maoists including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju were neutralized by the Indian security forces during an intelligent based operation in Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday.
Basavaraju is considered the mastermind behind deadly Maoist attacks including the 2010 ambush killing of 75 CRPF personnel and the 2013 Jheeram Ghati massacre involving senior state Congress leaders, according to The Times of India.
The Indian government had offered an INR 10 million bounty for information leading to Basavaraju's arrest.
