The monarchists' protest, demanding the reinstatement of the royal institution, has gained momentum as the first day of their "United People's Movement" began peacefully today.
Supporters of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) organized a rally from seven different locations in Kathmandu. After gathering at Ratna Park, the demonstrators marched around Tundikhel.

RPP President Rajendra Lingden led the procession that started from Maitidevi, which was also joined by the party’s chief whip, Gyanendra Shahi. Meanwhile, RPP Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa led another rally that began from Sifal.
Similarly, a separate procession was taken out from Narayanchaur under the leadership of Navaraj Subedi, coordinator of the United People's Movement Committee. Another rally, which started from New Road, was led by Dr. Prakash Chandra Lohani, while Keshar Bahadur Bista participated in the march that began from Tripureshwar.
The movement remains peaceful as demonstrators continue to push for their demands.
