Santosh Kumar Tamang, a 34-year-old from Ramechhap Municipality-8, Salle, died in a workplace accident in Saudi Arabia. He had gone to Saudi Arabia just three months ago for employment. According to his younger brother, Tritha Tamang, Santosh was hit by a wire while towing a vehicle at his workplace.

Santosh had initially gone to Dubai but returned to Nepal after his mother’s death on June 25, 2024. Struggling with debt from building a house, he decided to go to Saudi Arabia for better earnings, following his elder brothers who were already working there as drivers.

His wife, Sabina Tamang, and three young daughters (15, 10, and 7 years old) are now grieving. The family faces financial hardship, with an unpaid loan of NPR 3.3 million. Efforts are underway to repatriate his body with help from the manpower company and his brothers in Saudi Arabia.
