Wife missing, husband injured after flooded rivulet washes away cowshed in Nuwakot

A woman went missing and her husband sustained critical injuries when the cowshed where they were sleeping was swept away by a flooded rivulet on Thursday night.

According to SP Durga Raj Regmi, the chief of District Police Office (DPO), Nuwakot, 32-year-old Kamala Balami was swept away by the swollen Bimchana rivulet in Kakani Rural Municipality-1, Bhasibu, while her husband Ahok Balami sustained critical injuries. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kathmandu, informed Armed Police Force Deputy Spokesperson Shailendra Thapa.

The police said they are searching for the missing woman.

The cowshed where the Balami couple were sleeping was swept away by the swollen Bimchana rivulet last night.

Acting on a tip-off, a 65-member team from the Armed Police Force, Nepal UN Training School, Kakani, (No.19 Battalion), fanned out into the incident site for rescue.

The swollen rivulet has also swept away some domestic animals.

Similarly, 15 houses sustained damages after a landslide occurred in Kaike Rural Municipality-4, Riwa. Similarly, three individuals were injured in the landslide, the AFP said.
