18, including 3 police personnel, 6 Chinese missing after flood in Bhote Koshi: Rasuwa Police (video)

A sudden surge in the Bhotekoshi River has washed away multiple vehicles and damaged key facilities in Rasuwa district.

The Rasuwa District Police Office (DPO) has reported that 18 people have gone out of contact following a massive flood in the Bhote Koshi River on Tuesday morning.

Issuing an official statement, DPO, Rasuwa confirmed that 3 police personnel, 12 Nepali citizens, and 6 Chinese nationals are missing. However, their identities are yet to be disclosed.

According to the police, the flood occurred around at 3 AM on Tuesday in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2, Rasuwagadhi due to heavy rainfall in the Chinese territory.

The flood swept away the Miteri Bridge, which connects Nepal and China, halting all cross-border movement since 4 AM today.

Additionally, the flood washed away 7-8 vehicles parked at an EV charging station in Gosaikunda-2. The Rasuwa Customs Office yard and the dam of the Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project have also been damaged, police informed.

Earlier, eleven people were reported missing after a flood swept through the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa district in the wee hours of today.
