President Ramchandra Paudel has returned the bill aimed at amending the Constitutional Council (Functions, Duties, Powers, and Procedures) Act, 2066, back to the Parliament.

Paudel sent the bill back to the House of Representatives (HoR) on Thursday, requesting a reconsideration of its provisions.

The bill's proposed amendments were contrary to the spirit and essence of the constitution, as well as democratic values, principles, and global practices.

According to Kiran Pokharel, the President's Press Advisor, the bill was returned to the House of Representatives for reconsideration as per Article 113 (3) of the Constitution of Nepal. The amendment bill, passed by both houses of Parliament, had been presented to President Paudel on July 15 for authentication.
