Rajendra Pudaisaini has been elected as the new president of the Non-Resident Nepali Association UK (NRNA-UK), defeating his competitors Govinda Kharel and Manish Khatri in a closely watched election held on Saturday.
Taking charge at a time when NRNA-UK faces deep polarization and internal disputes, Pudaisaini has promised to make the organization more inclusive, transparent, and accountable.
"The crisis of leadership has tarnished NRNA-UK’s image," Pudaisaini told Nepalkhabar. "I have stepped up to lead this organization with a vision to make it a common and dignified platform for all Nepalis."
Pudaisaini outlined plans to bridge divisions within NRNA-UK and work collaboratively with rival factions, including Prem Gaha Magar’s group. He acknowledged past weaknesses, including the association’s failure to connect deeply with the Nepali community, and emphasized strengthening Nepal-UK relations while promoting knowledge and skill exchange.
A native of Belkotgadi Municipality-8 in Nuwakot, Pudaisaini moved to the UK 25 years ago for studies. He holds an MBA and a BSc (Hons) from prestigious universities and has worked in the UK’s healthcare sector for the past 15 years.
A long-time advocate for social change, Pudaisaini was active in student politics in Nepal and later played a key role in the UK’s trade union movement. Currently, he serves as Secretary of the GMB National Union (London Centre North).
Pudaisaini has previously run for councilor in the London Borough of Harrow (2014) and held leadership roles in the Yuwa Nepali Association UK, the Nepali Diaspora Platform UK, and the NRN International Coordination Committee (2021-23).
His election signals a fresh chapter for NRNA-UK as it seeks to rebuild trust and expand its influence among Nepalis in the UK.
