Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha has assigned Senior Vice Chairman Shiva Bastol the responsibility of acting chairman of the party.
Ranjita handed over the acting chairman's responsibility to Bastola after being implicated in the land deal bribe scam in Pokhara.
"I have handed over the acting chairman's responsibility to Bastola," She told Nepalkhabar.
Ranjita has been implicated in the land deal bribe scam of Lichibari in Pokhara. Only a few days ago, she had turned up at the Office of Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) for a voice test.
An audio clip in which Ranjita is overheard asking for bribe had gone public.
She said that she assigned Bastola the responsibility of acting chairperson as per the NUP's statute.
