The ruling CPN (UML) has finalized the list of ministers for the newly formed cabinet of Bagmati Province government chaired by Nepali Congress leader Indra Bahadur Baniya.

Baniya is taking charge of the Bagmati Province government as the Chief Minister today.

According to a UML source, UML has recommended Dinesh Chandra Devkota, Madhusudan Paudel, Bindu Shrestha, Jayaram Thapa, Kiran Thapa Magar and Bharat KC as ministers for the new cabinet. Out of six recommended, all the ministers except Thapa Magar are new faces.

Preparations are underway to administer the oath of office and secrecy along with Chief Minister Baniya, the UML source said.

In the 14-member cabinet, UML has received six ministerial portfolios. However, the names of the portfolios are yet to be finalized.

On the other hand, NC has finalized the names of only two ministers excluding Baniya as the Chief Minister until the posting of this news.

According to an NC source, Krishna Kumar Tamang from Rasuwa has been picked as the Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning while Shiva Raj Adhikari from Dhading has been recommended as the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law.

Out of 14 ministerial portfolios in the Bagmati Province government, NC holds eight including the Chief Minister.

It has been a tough nut to crack for Baniya to finalize the names of remaining five ministers.

A new government was formed in Bagmati Province after NC leader Baniya was elected as the Parliamentary Party leader forcing the former Chief Minister, Bahadur Singh Lama, to resign on Sunday.
