Visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri paid a courtesy call on President Ram Chandra Paudel on Sunday afternoon.
Foreign Secretary Misri, who arrived in Kathmandu on a two-day official visit to Nepal this morning, met with President Paudel at the latter's office in Sheetal Niwas a while ago.
During the meeting with the President, Secretary Misri conveyed greetings from the Indian leadership to President Paudel. Additionally, Misri briefed the President about the progress in bilateral relations between the two countries the Indian Embassy said.
Prior to meeting with President, Misri called on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. The Indian side has proposed a visit to India for PM Oli from September 16-17. However, the exact dates for the visit have not yet been finalized.
Foreign Secretary Misri handed over a formal invitation letter from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to PM Oli for the visit.
During his stay, Foreign Secretary Misri is also scheduled to hold meetings with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Secretary, and other officials. He will return to India on Monday.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during the visit, discussions between the two secretaries will focus on various aspects of Nepal-India partnership, including connectivity, development cooperation, and matters of mutual interest.
