NRNA polls: 4,659 representatives from 56 countries registered

The registration process for representatives (voters) for the upcoming 12th General Convention and election of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), to be held in October, has been completed.

According to Hemraj Sharma, Vice-President of the Association, 4,659 representatives from 56 countries had registered their names through the Smart NRNA App by the stipulated deadline on Wednesday evening (August 20). The list of registered names will be finalized after verification by the national committees.

According to the Association's statute, the current working committee, former office bearers, advisors, and current and former members of the National Coordination Council (NCC) are eligible to become representatives in this General Convention. After verification, NRNA has stated that only about 3,400 representatives will participate in the voting.

According to Vice-President Sharma, out of the applications received, the ICC will identify individuals, who have worked for one term in the past in the ICC and NCC, and send the list to the NCC, and the NCC will finalize the list.

The 12th General Convention of the Association has been scheduled to be held in Kathmandu from October 11 to 13, which will include a world conference and an election to select new leadership. Prior to this, the Association has already formed an Election Committee with advocate Rajendra Ghimire as the Chief Commissioner, and Chiranjivi Dhakal, TB Karki, Pritam Shrestha, Rajani Pradhan, Homanath Pandey, and Prakash Sapkota as Commissioners.

Advocate Mukunda Neupane will serve as the legal advisor in the online election.
